Indy Jazz Fest satisfies fans' hearty appetites
Although only a moderately sized audience gathered there in the
afternoon, reggae crossover star Orville "Shaggy" Burrell wasn't going to
play to a sedentary crowd.
"I didn't fly from Jamaica to see people in chairs," he said from the stage, and people stood up to oblige him with a sun-splashed party.
Shaggy performed mainstream smash "It Wasn't Me," a No. 4 hit in 2000. Elsewhere, an appreciation for what came before was heard in instrumental snippets of Marvin Gaye and Booker T. and the MGs.
While Shaggy represented a fresh spirit at the sixth annual festival, a lasting heritage was on display, as well. - Indystar.com
