Digital Dish Diva says:
Welcome to MSN Live! This afternoon we are pleased to present a special chat event with Shaggy whose latest CD is "Lucky Day."
Digital Dish Diva says:
Shaggy, it's great to have you here for the first time!
Digital Dish Diva says:
We have so many questions so let's get started!
Shaggy says:
As we say in Jamaica-- Big Respect!
Hersheis2 in Onstage4 asks:
Shaggy, how did you come up with your name and are you really from Jamaica?
Shaggy says:
Yep, I'm really from Jamaica, born and still live there. I got the name because my hair was Shaggy and they say I look like Shaggy from “Scooby-Doo.”
robbinater in Onstage1 asks:
Who influenced you to go into music industry?
Shaggy says:
I basically can't do much else. (laughs) It's just a natural progression.
Dan9812 in Onstage4 asks:
Hi Shaggy. Love the new CD. Bought it today. Keep up the sweet reggae vibes. Nuff Respect.
Shaggy says:
Big Respect and check out "Lucky Day." That's my favorite track.
sarahbear1104 in Onstage4 asks:
How does it feel to get up on stage? Is it as nerve wracking as they all say it is the first time?
Shaggy says:
I'm most comfortable on stage. The stage is the real reason why I'm in music because I enjoy the adrenaline rush.
Rik_Rok_Fan_2001 in Onstage1 asks:
What is one thing you would like to say that you normally don't get to?
Shaggy says:
I think basically what I count on is the fan support. The fan base is more important to me than anything else. If I can put a smile on people's faces, it's rewarding for me.
Blank4n1m4t10n in Onstage1 asks:
What was it like making "Lucky Day"?
Shaggy says:
To make "Lucky Day" was pretty easy. It's always an easy process because I sit in my house, invite my friends over, and band out some music. Lots of fun and jokes.
Special_Agent7109 in Onstage1 asks:
Shaggy when will you perform in the Caribbean?
Shaggy says:
I should be in a Cayman Islands some time next week.
love_struck_gemini_81 in Onstage4 asks:
Hi Shaggy. I wanted to ask you this question, what is the biggest misconception that people have about you?
Shaggy says:
That I'm a constant womanizer.
Digital Dish Diva says:
Totally untrue? (laughs)
Shaggy says:
Absolutely.
Manolis_Varnasactor1 in Onstage1 asks:
Shaggy your new CD is awesome. What day in your life do you think that was lucky?
Shaggy says:
I think every day I wake up and there's breath in my lungs, I'm pretty lucky.
NotoriusTitan2 in Onstage4 asks:
What do you like best about your job?
Shaggy says:
I'd say the performing aspect of it. To get up on stage and go buck wild is always good.
macjude in Onstage1 asks:
Why is Sammy Davis Jr. your favourite entertainer?
Shaggy says:
I think it's because Sammy is an all around entertainer. He could dance and act. He always rose above discrimination. He didn't let it sidetrack him he kept focused. As with Reggae, it's out of the ordinary and it takes effort, when it's difficult I always think of him and what he was able to get through.
BallinBabe420 in Onstage1 asks:
Hi Shaggy. I was wondering--what are you planning on doing with your career. Are you going to try acting or anything?
Shaggy says:
I don't have a passion for acting, my passion is music. But I could develop a really really good passion for acting, depending on how much they are paying me. (laughs)
ElipticalBeauty in Onstage4 asks:
When did you first fall in love with hip hop?
Shaggy says:
I'm just a lover of hip-hop, jumpstreet. It's a birthchild of Reggae. It's intriguing and enticing.
Lars_O6 in Onstage1 asks:
At what point in your career, did it hit you, that you were making it?
Shaggy says:
I think the "Hotshot" album. Before that it was always a struggle. I think I'm in a good position now with my career.
DisturbedGuy4 in Onstage1 asks:
What is the hardest part of your job?
Shaggy says:
I think promotion is a part that I really don't enjoy.
Shaggy says:
There are things I would rather be doing like sitting on beach in Jamaica surrounded by a bunch of pretty girls.
Starletta3079 in Onstage1 asks:
ARE YOUR SONGS ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS OR EXPERIENCE?
Shaggy says:
I just base my music on everyday things that people can relate to. It might not be something I have experienced. If you talk about high society, the regular Joe doesn't know about it. I talk about every day situations, ya know?
Dan9812 in Onstage4 asks:
Hi Shaggy, with your busy schedule, how much time do you get to spend "Back Home"?
Shaggy says:
It is hard to be back home. I haven't seen my home in months. But I'm doing what I'm doing, and I'm doing what I love, so I cope.
Sk8erGurl340 in Onstage4 asks:
Hey Shaggy. I was wondering if you were going out with any celebs. If so, who?
Shaggy says:
No, I'm not with the celebrity chick thing. I would rather be with a regular girl. There's already too much excitement in my life. (laughs)
Digital Dish Diva says:
Have you ever had a celebrity crush?
Shaggy says:
Of course, everyone has a celebrity crush. Halle Berry is still at the top of my list. Then Jennifer Lopez, she's hot.
Eagle582 in Onstage4 asks:
How did you come up with the “Scooby-Doo” song for the movie?
Shaggy says:
They basically asked me to do it. I didn't want to do it, but my kids told me it would be cool. I just improvised and kept the corny hook.
Digital Dish Diva says:
What did your kids think about the film?
Shaggy says:
They liked it. I thought it was wack, but they liked it and that's what mattered.
Pumpumluva in Onstage1 asks:
Did you enjoy your time performing on stage in St. Lucia?
Shaggy says:
Yeah. Anywhere in the Caribbean is home for me.
Moogie6 in Onstage1 asks:
Is stardom everything you thought it would be?
Shaggy says:
Absolutely not. When I think of stardom I think of naked chicks running around me all day. Everything at my fingertips. Ain't that the lie? (laughs)
Darkndemented183 in Onstage4 asks:
How did you start getting into the singing business and at what age?
Shaggy says:
I got started at an early age. I guess about 18. I was always writing songs as a kid. After "Boombastic" I thought I might have a career out of it.
Triston_19 in Onstage1 asks:
How has your success changed your life?
Shaggy says:
Absolutely. I'm a lot more busy these days. I don't have time to scratch my ass, got to get someone to do it for me. (laughs)
Starletta3079 in Onstage1 asks:
What’s “Chica Bonita” about?
Shaggy says:
It's about me going to some Spanish country and seeing some chick and she says something to me in Spanish and I don't understand a word she's saying. I'm supposed to say all these gorgeous things to women that men don't.
poisondart4 in Onstage3 asks:
Hi lover lover. When would you be having ya next tour?
Shaggy says:
As soon as you buy my CD and it becomes #1, I'll come to your town.
Reggaemama1 in Onstage4 asks:
Did you record this CD to pay homage to women or is that just a strategic marketing and public relations going on?
Shaggy says:
Did you buy the album? If you did, it's self explanatory.
Ongaru in Onstage1 asks:
Hey Shaggy, how do you get your voice to sound like that?
Shaggy says:
I drank a lot of cream soda.
ReformingHomebound in Onstage4 asks:
Don't you ever get tired of it all and want a normal life back? it seems pretty hectic.
Shaggy says:
There are times I thought about it. But truly when you're famous, how can you turn your back? So I go with it all the way.
melisse says:
Hi. Would you ever do a duet with anyone?
Shaggy says:
I've done duets with all kinds of people. My previous songs have been collabs, but I have no desire for stars. They're a pain in the ass.
shanghai says:
Do you sing in the shower or in the car?
Shaggy says:
Neither really. I've been through a phase where I would sing in the shower. I used to sing in the car, but now it's always filled with people. So that won't ever happen.
Digital Dish Diva says:
What's in your CD player right now?
Shaggy says:
India.Arie.

Nah. My life ain't that juicy and I'd have to lie to make it sell well. (laughs)
RexBladeAlpha9 in Onstage4 asks:
Do you have fun working with all those women in your music video?
Shaggy says:
I do have a good time with all the ladies and I try to go on the video shoots and make them as comfortable as I can. Usually video shoots are long.
shaggysbitofstuff in Onstage1 asks:
When are you going to tour in the UK again? Please answer me as it is 2.21am and I need to go to bed for a few hours before I get up again for work at 6.30am
Shaggy says:
Next month.
Digital Dish Diva says:
Now go to bed!
Shaggy says:
Yeah!
ThA_TwiStEr in Onstage1 asks:
What’s happening in your life right now?
Shaggy says:
A whole lot of work.
OffstagePrince in Onstage1 asks:
How do you find this new songs to sing?
Shaggy says:
Write them.
prettypain says:
How long does it take you to write a song?
Shaggy says:
Depends on what mood I'm in. Depends if my juices are flowing. Sometimes it takes me 45 minutes and sometimes it takes me 2 hours. Sometimes I am just bored and do half one day and half the next. Sometimes I just scrap the whole thing, it just depends on how I feel.
Rik_Rok_Fan_2001 in Onstage1 asks:
Do you and your crew hang out even when not on tour?
Shaggy says:
No. After I'm on tour, I've been with them for a couple of months and they are the last people I want to see. (laughs)
oopsa says:
Hi Shaggy, Halloween is tomorrow. Are you afraid of anything?
Shaggy says:
No, not really. I'm not that spooky. We don't have Halloween in Jamaica.
raif says:
Would you mind if your kids got into the music business?
Shaggy says:
Absolutely not. If he wants to, go ahead, but I wouldn't encourage it.

What do you do when you're not touring or recording a new CD?
Shaggy says:
Hopefully I'll be on the beach at my home in Jamaica smoking.
Blank4n1m4t10n in Onstage1 asks:
Who is your favourite musical artist and why?
Shaggy says:
Tracy Chapman. I have a whole lot of them, but that's the closest. Everyone from Gregory Isaac to Bob Marley to Tracy Chapman.
eastcoastgal_7 in Onstage1 asks:
Hi Shaggy, happy belated birthday. This is from Anita in Petty Harbour, NF. Excellent concert in Paradise. I was wondering if you have any other songs other than on your CD's with other artists and how was it to work with them?
Shaggy says:
Yeah. I collaborated with Joe on his CD and Toni Braxton on her last CD. I haven't done a lot of collaborations on other CDs. There's not a lot of artists out there I want to work with anyway.
Blank4n1m4t10n in Onstage1 asks:
What city are you in right now?
Shaggy says:
I'm in L.A.
Digital Dish Diva says:
When you're in LA, anything special you like to do?
Shaggy says:
Not really. I'm always coming to L.A. for work so there's not much else that goes on.

Drunken_rabbit3 in Onstage1 asks:
What was Ali G like? Is he as funny as on the series on TV?
Shaggy says:
Nah, he's not really as funny. He's a laid back kind of cat. Everything's scripted for him.
OffstagePrince in Onstage1 asks:
Shaggy have you performed with JLo on stage together?
Shaggy says:
No.
Starletta3079 in Onstage1 asks:
HOW MANY KIDS DO YOU HAVE?
Shaggy says:
Two.
rainbow_cheekys says:
Hi Shaggy! I love the new music. What do you hope I feel when I listen to your music?
Shaggy says:
Horny.
Digital Dish Diva says:
On that note. . . Shaggy, thanks for joining us tonight on MSN Live. From all of us here at MSN Live, best of luck with "Lucky Day"!
