JUMBLE OF THE WEEK |
Did Jamaican dancehall star Shaggy actually snub Ugandan autograph and
hug-seeking female fans on Monday? It would appear.
Scouts say
there were unresolved issues between him and the promoters and that the
star did not even make an appearance at the end-of-year Musician Club
party at The National Theatre.
But Charlie Lubega, one of the
promoters, says Shaggy was too conscious about his security that he made a
personal decision to keep to himself.
The situation got so bad in
Ange Mystique during Shaggy's party later that evening that revellers who
left were not allowed back in. Lubega says the artiste, who was alarmed at
the size of the crowd in the club, was uncomfortable, prompting organisers
to seek an urgent solution to the congestion.

Meanwhile, another melee unfolded at the first show at Speke
Resort Munyonyo. Media corps complained of mistreatment by organisers,
saying they were blocked from accessing the VIP section at first, because,
apparently dinner was being served.
But Charlie Lubega, who was in
the middle of the fracas with event manager, UTL's Peter Kaggwa, said they
had organised a “staff” dinner in a tent backstage, where media along with
promoters and other guests were expected to dine.
“It was lack of
coordination that brought the problem,” Lubega said. Well, at least that
serves as a lesson for everyone.
