It is probable that by the time you read this, Jamaican-born dance hall icon Shaggy will already be walking on Uganda soil.

Mr Boombastic, as he is aptly called, jets in today aboard British Airways at 7 a.m.

Shaggy will hold what has been billed as the biggest concert of the year, dubbed "the Boombastic Concert" on New Year's Eve. Those of you who will not catch him that day will have another chance on New Year's Day when he holds the family concert.

Ange Mystique proprietor, Charlie Lubega who is one of the organisers of the concert, says the New Year's Day family concert is to cater for those who will have missed the Boombastic Show and the youngsters, as it is mainly a show for the whole family.

Tickets for the family show will cost only Shs 20,000 for adults and Shs 10,000 for under 18's. They will only be sold at the gate.

"We shall handle the sales at the gate as we expect fewer people and the gates willearly," Lubega said told a media conference on December 24 at Ange Noir. Performances for the family concert will start at 4 p.m.

Lubega reiterated that the Boombastic show is going to be one of the hottest the country has ever held and that they have cut no corners to ensure Ugandans have a show worth their money.

"We have brought in professional sound, lighting and support equipment from South Africa, U.K, Kenya and even Uganda," he said.

Most people have been wondering what the benefits come with the various ticket categories on sale. Silver tickets cost Shs 20,000 and holders who come early for the show will have proximity to the stage. Gold ticket holders will for Shs 40,000 have closer proximity to the stage while platinum ticket holders will have a dinner and choice drinks for the Shs 100,000 on top of prime proximity to the stage.

Lubega also said his team has come up with recommended alternative routes to the concert venue at the Speke Resort in Munyonyo to ease the traffic flow on New Year's Eve. There is the Salaama road route, which can be accessed from the Kibuye roundabout towards Makindye past Calendar Rest House.

A left turn will lead concertgoers to a road that will lead straight to Munyonyo. The other access route is through Namuwongo past the former Reste Corner hotel right through the Muyenga Stone Quarry route up to Bunga, just after Didi's World and on to Munyonyo.
