Show goers to Shaggy's 'Boombastic' concert that is billed to be the hottest event ushering in the New Year should just sit back and relax. All is set to make sure that they will indeed have a 'bombastic' time. Shaggy will be in Uganda on December 29 and will perform at Speke Resort Munyonyo on December 31.

But at big do's like these, some wrong doers take advantage, sometimes committing crimes like mugging people, stealing car accessories and mobile phones. This time around, they will not have the chance to do that. Organisers of the Jamaican musician Shaggy have promised tight security.

While speaking to the press on Thursday at Speke Hotel, the sponsors promised the best. Peter Kaggwa from Mango said a private Security firm Protectorate SPC, Uganda Police, Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence and Military Police have agreed to work together.

Charlie Lubega of Ange Mystique added that police would be present in all the dark spots that muggers usually take advantage of.

Dr Ian Clarke of the International Air Ambulance who is now on board for the show, said there would be an ambulance, doctors and nurses to provide first aid.
"Of course our first wish is that nothing happens, but in case anything happens, we shall be there to take care of it," he said.

An elaborate transport plan to avoid traffic jams has also been drawn. And Lubega, being a rally driver and good navigator has drawn up alternative routes for show goers to Munyonyo. He advised that people should use Salaama Road, where they turn off at Kibuye roundabout and follow Makindye Road. Nangada- Lukuli Road is another option and another route passing through Namuwongo, Muyenga and finally Bunga.

Kaggwa said UTODA has agreed to ferry people from Ntinda, Wandegeya, Bwaise, Nakulabye and Nateete, straight to Munyonyo. There will also be taxis at the Constitutional Square, the old and new taxi parks.

Kaggwa added that there is free parking at Africa Academy in Kabalagala, which can accommodate about 2,000 cars and there will be a shuttle to ferry people to Munyonyo to avoid the jam.

Club Pilsner's William Blick said that they have started a promotion where people can win tickets to the show and other gifts. Venues for the promotion are Victoria Tavern, The Venue, TLC, Kelly's pub and DV8. One gets a chance to win if they drink a Club beer from any of these places.

Meanwhile, Mango also has a promotion where subscribers can send SMS' giving reasons why they want to meet Shaggy. Tickets are on sale starting today at several petrol stations and supermarkets in Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja, Masaka and Mbarara.

Lubega promised that the show would be worth the money as other artists like Rayvon, Rik Rok, Steve Jean, Jose Chameloene, Peter Miles, Ragga Dee, Benon and Vamposs, Klear Kut and others are expected to perform.

"Since the gates willat Midday, we want people to be entertained until 9 p.m when we expect Shaggy on stage. At midnight there will be the biggest fireworks display ever in Uganda," Lubega said.
